PRESS RELEASE
PAUL BOATENG MP SEES EURO-CASH INJECTION AT SHAW TRUST CARLYON
05 December 2003
Paul Boateng MP will make a special pre-Christmas visit to Shaw Trust Carlyon Print on Friday 5 December at 9am. During his visit Mr Boateng will see for himself how money from the European Union has been used to renovate the print works, which provides supported employment for 26 disabled people across Brent. Carlyon Print is Managed by Shaw Trust, a national disability charity, now celebrating 21 years of operation, providing training and work opportunities for over 14,000 disabled and disadvantaged people each year.
Paul Boateng MP said: I commend the Shaw Trust and Carlyon Print for the great efforts they have made towards empowering those with disabilities in Brent. Providing training and employment opportunities for those who are willing and able to work underpins the Governments strategy for promoting a strong, skilled and independent workforce and a healthy local economy. I look forward also to seeing first hand how EU money is helping firms and communities prosper in Brent. -
Amanda Lewis, Shaw Trust Carlyon Project Manager adds, Recent help from the European Union has given us a new lease of life here at Carlyon. It has made possible a massive refurbishment programme to take place. We now have modern printing facilities, which mean were ideally placed to promote ourselves to local businesses and maintain our mission to provide employment and training for disabled people.
