PRESS RELEASE
JOHN BERCOW MP AT HARTWELL HOUSE TO CELEBRATE DISABLED PEOPLES ACHIEVEMENTS AT WORK
30 July 2003
Today, Wednesday 30th July at 12.30pm John Bercow MP will visit Hartwell House the18th century stately home and health spa on Oxford Road, Aylesbury to celebrate with Shaw Trust, national disability charity, the success of disabled employees there.
Mr Bercow will see for himself how a local partnership between Shaw Trust and Historic House Hotels who owns Hartwell House, Spa and 90 acres of landscaped parkland has supported disabled people into work. He will meet Samantha Peck and Baron Endersby who both have disabilities and until recently were unemployed. Mr Bercow will find out about the barriers that disabled people face when looking for work and he will also have the opportunity to speak with Hartwell House managers about the creative things that a positive employer can do to support individuals.
John Bercow MP said: "Shaw Trust does outstanding work in breaking down the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from fulfilling their potential and serving the community. The innovative partnership between Shaw Trust and Hartwell House is giving a number of disabled people a chance to show just what they can deliver. It is a heart lifting initiative and I hope that it will be an example to others throughout the country."
Ann Hawkins, Personnel Administrator at Hartwell adds Hartwell House has benefited immensely in working with Shaw Trust and integrating disabled people into our workforce. We have found that they are extremely loyal, talented and enjoy working as part of a team.
