Show Racism the Red Card to launch one million anti-racist posters with 45 of the top Football Clubs in England and Scotland during Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) Action Week
As part of the FARE action week we are organising a number of events which will be attended by top professional footballers and young people.
Tuesday 14th of Oct at National Union of Teachers HQ: Mabledon Place, London. 2:30pm Schools Artwork Exhibition launch with 50 pupils from primary and secondary schools.
Thursday 16th of Oct: Event at Sheffield Wednesday FC, Hillsborough, 1pm, co-organised with Football Unites Racism Divides. Launch of Sheffield United FC and Sheffield Wednesday FC posters.
Thursday 23rd of Oct: Joint event with Kick It Out in the Council Chamber of Newcastle Civic Centre at 2pm.
Monday 27th of Oct at Hampden, Glasgow. Event co-organised with the Scottish Football Association and the Scottish Executive at 11 am.
Ged Grebby, project co-ordinater of Show Racism the Red Card, said “During the FARE week of action we will be launching posters with all the top teams in England and Scotland; as well as a fantastic artwork exhibition. Our campaigns 7th Annual Review will also be launched at the NUT event. Football fans will be able to download the team shot of their Football Club via our website www.TheRedCard.org”
Doug McAvoy, NUT General Secretary said: “Racism is pernicious and divisive. It is not acceptable on the terraces, on the pitch, in our schools. We must all work to kick it out of our society. That is what this project aims to achieve. The children’s work illustrates the success it is having.”
