Physiotherapist cautioned by Health Professions Council

A physiotherapist has been cautioned for four years by the Health Professions Council. A panel of the Conduct and Competence Committee met yesterday to consider the case of Rajasekaran Govindasamy at Park House, Kennington.

Barbara Stuart, Chair of the Panel said... "The Panel have considered all the evidence and found the allegation well founded. The Panel has considered each of the sanctions available to it and has decided the most appropriate sanction to make is a caution order under Article 29(5) of the Health Professions Order 2001 for a period of four years.
The Panel found that Mr Govindasamy fell short of....the standards of conduct expected of a registrant. The Panel found he willfully mislead Pontypridd and Rhondda NHS Trust, both by omission and commission, as to his experience and clinical competency in an intensive care setting in the process of gaining employment."

The Health Professions Council is a UK wide health regulator set up to protect the public. It sets standards for thirteen health professions. The HPC only registers people who meet its standards for their professional skills, behaviour and health, and will take action against people who do not.
