Land Registry publishes Annual Report and Accounts 2002-03
Land Registry today (21 October) published its Annual Report and Accounts for 2002-03. The Report shows that during the past year:
All Key Performance Targets achieved or exceeded despite receiving 20% more work than in 2001-02 Stocks of outstanding casework lowest for 25 years Over 86% of registrations processed within 20 working days Positive response to public consultation on e-Conveyancing report submitted to Ministers in March Over 98% of customers either very satisfied or satisfied with the full range of services provided by the Registry First online service for the citizen launched in March with Land Register Online Consultation on Land Registration Rules completed 99.5% of registers now capable of electronic delivery Financial Memorandum of Understanding signed with HM Treasury
Introducing the Report, Peter Collis, Chief Land Registrar and Chief Executive, said: Last year, in commenting on 2001-02, I described that year as 'probably the best yet in Land Registrys 140 year history'. I am now delighted to report that 2002-03 was even better. He continued: Providing the best service we can to our customers will always be our top priority. It is especially pleasing that our customers said that they were even more satisfied than before with the speed and accuracy of our services and more of our customers said that they were very satisfied with the full range of our services. Peter Collis went on to say: In 2002-03 we laid down further foundations for our future. We carried out major consultations on the Rules to be made to implement the Land Registration Act 2002, and on electronic conveyancing. We also computerised more of our key data, including our Index Map, and began a programme of enhancing the capacity and resilience of our IT infrastructure. This will stand us in good stead as we make more and more of our services available electronically. During the year we also became more accessible to the general public, our ultimate customer. We launched Land Register Online, an internet-based service whereby anyone can look at our registers from their PC and pay for the service by credit card. Ends
