ED BALLS' SPEECH

Commenting on Ed Balls' latest proposals on Diplomas, Steve Sinnott, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, Europe’s largest teaching union said:

"Thousands of young people will rely on the Diplomas to be credible with employers and all Universities. The Government has to be careful that piecemeal changes do not undermine confidence in the Diplomas. There is every argument to make Diplomas attractive to all young people.

"This is a bold move. The 2013 review should be brought forward so that Ruth Kelly’s mistake in rejecting Tomlinson can be publicly reversed and the original consensus restored".
