Schools and anti-Semitism

Commenting on the all-party parliamentary inquiry report into anti-Semitism, Steve Sinnott, General Secretary of the National Union of Teachers, said:
“The report should form the focus of debate on opposing anti-Semitism both in schools and in the wider community. Anti-Semitism is a virulent form of racism.
“In the current turbulent climate, both Jewish and Moslem children across the country face the danger of discrimination, abuse and possible violence.

It is the responsibility of the whole school community, including parents, to resist racism whether it be anti-Semitism or Islamophobia.
“I welcome the Committee’s recommendation for twinning schemes between schools and new guidance to schools on providing effective anti-racist education.”
