Guide to the Treaty of Lisbon

29 January 2008

The Law Society has today launched a guide to the Treaty of Lisbon.  It is to inform solicitors about the new EU framework and new tools available for their clients.  It will be launched today at 4pm in the House of Commons in order that the legal profession's perspective on the Treaty is reflected in parliamentary discussions.

Andrew Holroyd, Law Society President, said: "This guide offers an overview of the practical effects of the Treaty of Lisbon and should be used as a vital tool for solicitors, parliamentarians and anyone else who has an interest in EU law and the effects on the UK legal system. The Treaty aims to increase the right of individuals, businesses and organisations in the EU and offers new avenues of redress. Solicitors will inevitably be fully involved in this development on behalf of their clients."
