Age Concern responds to pensions settlement
17 December 2007
Age Concern responds to the Government’s announcement of a settlement to compensate workers who lost their occupational pensions
Age Concern’s Director General, Gordon Lishman, said:
"Today's announcement is good news for the thousands of people who lost their occupational pensions through no fault of their own. Restoring public confidence in pensions is crucial if the Government is serious about encouraging people to start saving for their retirement. We strongly believe that the new system of personal accounts will change the face of retirement saving and finally make pensions worthwhile for the majority. But public - and political - faith in the system will be key to its success."
