Money Laundering comment

11 December 2007

Commenting on the Money Laundering regulations due to come into force on 15 December, Andrew Holroyd, Law Society President, said:

"We are proud to have been a leading voice for our members during the implementation of the Money Laundering Regulations. These regulations will have relevance for a large number of solicitors firms. We urge all firms which are covered by the Money Laundering Regulations to ensure that they have appropriate systems and procedures in place so that they do not fall foul of these new rules. If solicitors are unsure about their obligations under the Money Laundering Regulations 2007, they should read the Law Society's Practice Note available on www.lawsociety.org.uk/moneylaundering and they can obtain advice on a dedicated helpline run by Practice Advice team on 0870 606 2522."
