DISEASE FOCUS: MULTIPLE MYELOMA
Life Support Services
Although generally incurable, the blood cancer Multiple Myeloma is increasingly treatable, report Joe Kimble

MULTIPLE MYELOMA is a cancer caused by the mutation of plasma cells in bone marrow. Plasma cells are a vital element of the immune system, producing immunoglobulins (antibodies) to fight off infection and disease. As with all cells, Plasma cells spring from stem cells, which produce two sorts of white blood cells or lymphocytes – B Cells and T Cells. It is the B Cells that spawn the plasma cells.
