EARLY IN March, Richard Granger, the NHS IT Tsar, cancelled the 10-year contract with EDS for a national NHS email and directory service, only 18 months after it was signed. The reason given was that EDS was failing to deliver the system as specified, and, as a result, only 62,000 of the 1.2 million NHS staff had taken up the service.
