Breaking the cycle of fear
The government must take clear and decisive action to address the fact that the NHS is failing an entire section of the population, says Angela Greatley

 

IN OCTOBER 1998, an African Caribbean man called David Bennett died in a mental health hospital after being restrained by staff for over 25 minutes. Last month, over five years later, the  independent inquiry into his death concluded that his treatment was “negligent” and that the NHS as a whole was  “institutionally racist”.
