RENAL NSF
Defusing a human time-bomb
Kidney failure is a devastating condition which is on the rise.  Timothy Statham examines whether the government's new renal national service framework is up to the job

ORIGINALLY, THE government set its face against a renal National Service Framework, arguing that 30,000 plus patients were to small a group to warrant one. The National Kidney Federation, (NKF), representing all the kidney patients knew that an NSF was their best hope to end the postcode lottery of provision that was proving so harmful. End Stage Renal Failure (ESRF) has no cure, and is always fatal unless treated. Many patients were not, and are still not, being adequately treated.
