MRSA, the most notorious of the hospital superbugs, has rarely been far from the headlines this summer. The publication of new figures revealing reports of MRSA infections again increased last year, coupled with a highly critical National Audit Office (NAO) report into hospital acquired infections, has done little to reassure the public that government plans to tackle the problem are succeeding.
