Parliament 'should move to QEII centre'
If Parliament has to vacate the Palace of Westminster during refurbishment work there is overwhelming support for it to move into the Queen Elizabeth II conference centre, a survey of ePolitix.com readers has found.
Asked to choose between various options for relocation, 40 per cent opted for the QEII building which is located just minutes away from Parliament.
Some 28 per cent thought that County Hall should be the destination, while 16.5 per cent backed Methodist Central Hall.
Church House was seen as a feasible option by 10 per cent and Middlesex Guildhall by 5.3 per cent.
Among those listing 'other' preferences, there was support for Parliament meeting outside London.
Suggestions included UK cities such as Edinburgh, Cardiff and Manchester, or anywhere "north of the Watford Gap".
Meeting in the O2 Arena, formerly the millennium dome, was also suggested.
There were 565 respondents to ePolitix.com's online autumn poll between October 22 and 25.
