Campaign in pictures: Day twenty-three

May 3, 2005: Michael Howard boards his battle bus after a morning campaigning in Tamworth, Staffordshire. After the photo was taken it was pointed out to the Conservative Party that the bus's tax disc had expired.
A spokesman for Howard later explained that the coach was "perfectly legal", because as long as a tax disc had been purchased, vehicle owners had a 10-day period of grace in which to display it.
But that was later contradicted by the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Agency.
As a result, a Conservative spokesman said the bus would now be "parked up on private property and will not be driven any further until the tax disc has been properly displayed".
