Cardiff Central falls to Lib Dems
Liberal Democrats

The Liberal Democrats have taken Cardiff Central from Labour.

Jenny Willot become the first ever Lib Dem MP for the Welsh capital with a majority of over 5,000.

Willot said: "The message the voters have delivered is a simple one.

"Here in Cardiff Central, across Wales and in Britain as a whole, it's clear that the Liberal Democrats are the real alternative."

She also called the Tories "tired and irrelevant" and said Labour was "arrogant and manipulative".

Voters had embraced the "positive message of Charles Kennedy", she added.
