Welsh nationalists highlight NHS 'empty promises'
Labour's record on the NHS in Wales has come under renewed fire from Plaid Cymru.
The Welsh nationalists warned that the public is now "fed up to the back teeth" over waiting lists.
Unveiling Plaid's latest poster campaign, parliamentary leader Elfyn Llwyd accused Labour of making "empty promises".
"Be it for an NHS dentist or for hospital treatment, excessive waiting times have become one of the defining features of Labour rule in Wales," he said.
"Labour's incompetence is equally apparent across a wide range of issues, keeping us waiting for more police, more affordable homes, or better transport services.
"This election is an opportunity to show that we are fed up to the back teeth with Blair's empty promises."
Hywel Williams, the party's parliamentary health spokesman, said mental health services in Wales were "considerably worse" than in England.
Labour has been on the defensive about its health record in Wales.
Pressed on the issue during a visit to Cardiff, deputy prime minister John Prescott said it was a matter for the assembly rather than Westminster.
"That is what a devolved administration is about," he said.
