Under the Scottish boundary changes this seat lost the wards of Turriff, Fyvie-Methlick and Upper Ythan to a reshaped Banff, Buchan and Huntly seat.

Anti-Tory tactical voting, combined with Malcolm Bruce’s undoubted personal vote, are set to continue, meaning that there is little prospect of the Liberal Democrats losing this seat at a Westminster level for the foreseeable future.
