Constituency profile

Under the Scottish boundary changes, the Prestonfield ward has been removed from this constituency and the Conservative wards of South Morningside and Fairmilehead have been added.

The changes will seemingly shift Conservative attentions to Edinburgh South as they try to win an Edinburgh seat for the first time since the 1997 rout.

The sitting MP will be comparatively happy with the boundary changes as the Liberal Democrats were looking like the main threat in Edinburgh South and the loss of a Lib Dem ward should, based on the most recent electoral results, give Labour the edge here at the next general election.
