Cambridge
Constituency profile
Cambridge is a most unpredictable constituency and displays very few traits of loyalty to any one particular party.
Labour has lost seats in recent local elections, and, if the economic problems continue in Cambridge, this trend may be exacerbated.
However, it is as yet far from clear who will provide the challenge to Labour at the next election.
The Conservatives have also been in decline, although they have a stronger local history, while the Liberal Democrats, despite a lack-lustre decade, produced an improved result in 2001.
