Constituency profile

Scottish boundary changes have seen the seat enlarged slightly by the addition of Ferindonald from the current Ross, Skye and Inverness West, but the character of the constituency will not be changed.

Despite the volatile electoral history of this seat, and the potential challenge from both Labour and the SNP, the likeliest outcome is that it will remain in Liberal Democrat hands both at the next Westminster election in 2005-06 and at the next Scottish Parliament election in 2007.
