Following his initial two-vote victory, Mark Oaten has become a popular and responsive local MP.

The Conservatives are very keen to win back what was once one of their safest seats and will be fielding a local councillor candidate, but Oaten's support shows no signs of diminishing, and the constituency continues to prosper under Liberal Democrat control.
