Hornchurch
Constituency profile
John Cryer has a slender majority in Hornchurch.
The prospective Conservative candidate, James Brokenshire, intends to campaign on local issues such as schools and health care.
His style may well be more amenable to the suburbanites of Hornchurch than John Cryer's flamboyant leftism.
Given the Tories' resounding success in the 2002 local elections, and the likelihood that Labour's national majority will be reduced in the next election, this seat looks like a possible gain for the Conservatives.
