Manchester Blackley
Constituency profile
This is Labour’s 17th safest seat.
Clearly, the biggest and only task facing the Labour Party here is arresting the drastic decline in turnout.
Meanwhile, in the battle for second place, the Liberal Democrats were in the ascendancy for the first time in 2001, while the Tories, in terminal decline among northern inner-city seats, were comprehensively routed in both local and general polls.
