Mid Sussex
Constituency profile
This is one of the few remaining very safe seats that the Conservatives hold.
Constituents have a high standard of living, and in the 1980s voted for the Conservatives because of it, giving the candidate five-figure majorities.
Now only their core vote keeps the Conservative incumbent in Westminster, albeit with a safe 6,898 majority.
Depressingly for the local opposition, this core vote shows no sign of declining any further.
