Beckenham
Constituency profile
The 1997 by-election will probably be the closest that Labour will ever get to gaining Beckenham and the Liberal Democrats have only flattered to deceive.
Recent swings to Labour in suburban London may illustrate attitudinal changes among affluent voters and mean this seat is no longer wholly safe for the Conservatives but boundary changes after the next election may give them cause for comfort.
