Harlow
Constituency profile
Robert Halfon, 34, the man who has served as Oliver Letwin’s chief of staff for the past two years, must overturn a Labour majority of 5,500 if he is to be elected to represent the Essex constituency, a target seat for the Conservatives.
One feels, however, that the Blairite Rammell's hand will have been vastly strengthened, at least in the short term, by the 'whitewash' Blair received from Lord Hutton, Blair's (albeit narrow) victory over tuition fees, and, most importantly for Harlow's residents, a £10.85 million cash injection.
