The boundaries were redrawn for the 1997 general election, changing the make-up of the electorate from a Tory-leaning one to pro-New Labour.
They may change again for the next election, but the addition of the extra Devonport ward is unlikely to change the politics a great deal this time round, as it currently forms part of another relatively safe Labour seat.
