Liverpool Wavertree
Constituency profile
The regular infighting among Merseyside’s Labour Party means that no Labour MP can ever feel truly safe.
They are unlikely ever to be unseated by the electorate, but can be usurped by their own side in much the same way as Jane Kennedy usurped her predecessor.
If the Labour party in Merseyside do not stop shooting themselves in the foot, and if the local authority gets the credit for the regeneration projects transforming the city, the electorate may begin to think in the future that Liberal Democrat candidates for Westminster should get their votes as well as the Lib Dem councillors.
But at present it seems that this constituency, like all the Liverpool seats, is a secure Labour seat.
