Halifax looks fairly safe for Labour at present but given the marginal history, they should not take this seat for granted.

There has been a notable rise in support for the British National Party and they had two councillors elected to Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council in 2003, one to the Halifax ward of Mixenden.
