Harwich
Constituency profile
The party political future here is not easy to predict. If Labour can manage the economy prudently then the electorate will probably remain supportive of the sitting member.
However, if the unemployment trend continues and the new Conservative candidate, Douglas Carswell, can take advantage of this and the health issue, power could easily change hands.
Health service reforms will also be a key issue for the elderly population here.
However, Harwich proved election commentators wrong in 1997 and 2001, and may still have the capacity to surprise.
