Constituency profile

The spectacular re-alignment of unionist politics was highlighted in East Antrim in the 2003 Assembly election with the DUP comfortably overtaking the Ulster Unionists.

The fate of the Good Friday Agreement and the DUP reaction to becoming the dominant unionist party will probably decide whether this state of affairs is a temporary one or if Roy Beggs is likely to lose his seat at the next general election.
