Despite the slight contraction of his vote in 2001, Labour MP Roger Godsiff shows no signs of seriously loosening his grip on the seat.

Indeed, it would need a massive swing of 22.2 per cent for him to do so.

Perhaps, then, his greatest threat comes from the enemy within: those in his own party who would rather see a largely Muslim community represented by a Muslim MP.
