Wolverhampton South-West
Constituency profile
Aberavon is clearly a Labour stronghold and seems set to remain so for the foreseeable future.
The 1999 progress for Plaid Cymru was less strongly felt in Aberavon than in some of its other historic heartlands.
With 2003 showing that the tide of nationalism in both Scotland and Wales has receded to some extent, it is likely that Labour's massive lead in seats such as Aberavon will not be lessened too much in the near future.
