Bolton West
Constituency profile
This is a true weather-vane seat; given the constituency’s key demographic, it is likely that whichever party succeeds here will form the government.
If, however, the national scene (and popularity of the Conservative party) changes little from 2001, the Tories will have to keep a close check on the encroaching Liberal Democrat vote in both local and national polls.
At present, the Tories would require a 6.7 per cent swing to win this constituency.
