Constituency profile

This is far from being one of Labour’s most vulnerable seats and Dan Norris’ majority actually increased in 2001, despite a drop in turnout. He should be able to fight his Wansdyke seat at the next general election with confidence.

Interestingly enough, Mark Prisk, who contested the seat for the Conservatives in 1997, went on to stand in Hertford and Stortford in 2001, where he was duly elected with a majority just 10 votes short of that enjoyed by Dan Norris in Wansdyke.
