Constituency profile

The party-political future of Guildford is difficult to predict.

Strong Tory traditions at grassroots are counterbalanced by a significant Liberal Democrat presence on the borough councils.

Liberal Democrat MPs, once incumbent, are difficult to shift, with a much higher percentage of constituents satisfied with their performance than in the case of Labour or Conservative members.

However, with a majority of just 538, Sue Doughty will need another well-judged local campaign to return her to the next Parliament.
