Labour stands on record of delivery
Labour is standing on its record of delivery in Europe and at the local level.
Speaking to ePolitix.com as the campaigning continued at the end of May, MEP Gary Titley said the party had a strong record of delivery in Brussels.
"Clearly in any election there are a lot of issues going through people’s mind," the Labour leader in the European parliament said.
"But I think it is important that in this election we focus on the European perspective on the work Labour has done in Europe in terms of getting major influence on decision making.
"For example the recent financial services directive which, as it was originally formed, would have been very bad for Britain.
"A Labour government working very closely with the European parliament got it amended and now we have got quite a good piece of legislation.
"So it is about, essentially, delivery.
"In the local communities how Labour councils have delivered, the extent to which the Tories are constantly cutting services and the fact that the Liberals have the highest community charges in many areas.
"It is about the record of the parties delivering at local level and also delivering at European level."
He also said that voters on the doorstep were receptive to the party's key messages.
"The problem is you have this constant bombardment from the right wing press which is anti-European," Titley told this website.
"You are having to fight your way through all the mythologies and nonsense."
