LOCAL MP FIGHTS AGAINST THE SQUEEZE ON SMALL BUSINESSES
Tony Baldry supports Small Business Week
North Oxfordshire MP, Tony Baldry, is backing a weeklong campaign to support the 4.5 million small enterprises in the UK.
Small business week, which starts on Monday 29th October, will recognise the importance of small and medium sized enterprises in the UK and will look at how to overcome the challenges they face.
Currently, small enterprises in the UK spend an average seven hours a week dealing with rules and regulations, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). The time spent dealing with these regulations offers some explanation as to why enterprises are struggling to thrive in the competitive economy.
Tony Baldry MP, said:
“Small business week will be crucial in highlighting the help small enterprises need in order to survive. Currently, the regulatory burden is weighing them down. The recent Pre-Budget Report has only added to the extra red tape, and extra administration costs, small businesses face, with Britain now having more regulations that our competitors in the European Union. When I meet with local businesses, one of their biggest concerns is the level of red tape they face. It is clear that now is the time for this red tape to be slashed.”
