LOCAL MP CALLS FOR SMALL SHOPS TO BE SAVED
Tony Baldry shows concern over the declining presence of small shops on the High Street
North Oxfordshire MP, Tony Baldry is supporting a parliamentary motion that recognises the value of small shops to local communities. With the total cost of regulation introduced since 1998 amounting £50 billion, according to the Conservatives, the motion is urging the Government to reduce this burden on small businesses.
The fight to save small shops is becoming a widely discussed issue.
Tony Baldry MP said:
“Small shops play a vital part in all the local communities within North Oxfordshire but increased red tape is putting huge pressure on them. The Federation of Small Business estimates that almost one day a week is spent by a shop owner filling out forms. The High Street should not be under threat because the Government have introduced enormous quantities of red tape which make costs too high for smaller shops.
