New CO2 advice line to be introduced
1 May 2008
Sylvia Heal, MP for Halesowen and Rowley Regis has today welcomed Government action to tackle CO2 and reduce the carbon footprint of homes across the country.
The Government are introducing a new "Act on C02 advice line" which will provide people with comprehensive advice on how they can reduce their carbon footprint as well as connecting people with offers from energy companies and other financial support. The helpline number will be 0800 512 012.
The advice line is the first step in providing nationwide support for people to tackle CO2. There will be a requirement on energy suppliers to provide practical help to reduce people’s energy use at home, this will include subsidies for energy saving measures and advice on how to reduce your fuel bill. Alongside this the Carbon Emissions Target will see £2.8bn in energy saving measures with £1.5bn directed to low income and vulnerable groups.
Sylvia Heal MP said: "I am pleased the Government is leading the way in the fight against climate change, everyone has a role to play including the Government, individuals, businesses and the public sector. I hope that the new CO2 advice line will offer local residents in Halesowen and Rowley Regis a simple way to get advice on how to reduce their carbon footprint."
