Weston-super-Mare MP Praises Town’s Hospital
Weston-super-Mare MP John Penrose praised Weston General Hospital today as it was revealed in a patient survey that local residents believe that they are receiving above average care at the town’s hospital.
The survey, The National Survey of Adult Inpatients 2007, which was released today by The Healthcare Commission, is the fifth survey of inpatients to be carried out since 2002 and offers a valuable insight into the experiences of inpatients in all 166 acute and specialist NHS trusts.
Over 90 per cent of patients who responded to the survey have rated the care they received at Weston Hospital as either ‘Good’, ‘Very Good’ or ‘Excellent’. They have also rated the cleanliness of the Hospital as well, with 93 per cent saying that the ward or room that they were in were either ‘Fairly Clean’ or ‘Very Clean’.
Mr Penrose said: “It’s great to hear that local residents rate the care they receive at the Hospital so highly. Weston Hospital has been facing difficult financial circumstances of late, so I’m delighted to see that the care patients receive has not suffered as a result. It’s a testament to all the local GPs and health professionals’ hard work that the standards we expect from the local Hospital are still being achieved.”
