MP Says Car Clamping Firms Should Put up Clear Notices
Denis MacShane has called for clear signs to be set up by car parking firms so that motorists know their cars face clamping and towing away.
The Rotherham MP’s has intervened on behalf of the Rotherham carer, Joan Whitmill, who found her car clamped by the Doncaster firm Parkrite when she left it for a few moments at the parking space opposite the disused Cat and Cabbage pub in Carlisle Street. She was visiting one of the people she helps with home care help.
“I have been to see this car parking area and it is disgraceful that these cowboy clampers are allowed to put up a tiny notice with very small type explaining that hard-working Rotherham motorists cannot park their cars,” said MacShane.
“I have asked the Council to consider insisting that these signs are bigger and in clear strong type so that innocent motorists realise the dangers they face.
