Amess keeps up the pressure to save Essex Police
25th January 2006
David Amess MP has today once again joined with his fellow Essex Members of Parliament from all parties to continue their campaign to Save Essex Police.
Today, David and his colleagues met with the Chief Executive of the Essex Police Authority, Robert Chambers, to discussed developments in the Government's attempts to change the organisation of the Police in our region and around the country. The meeting was part of a day of lobbying by the Association of Police Authorities, during which MPs from around the country have been discussing the future of the Police Service with representatives from their local Police forces.
Speaking after the meeting, which was held at the House of Commons, David said:
‘This shows again how resolved Essex MPs from all parties are in their aim of keeping Essex as a stand alone Police force. Local policing is a priority for my constituents, one which regionalisation would destroy. My Parliamentary colleagues and I are all determined to oppose the Government on this policy until an independent future for the Essex Police Force is determined.’
