Westcliff Girls visit Westminster
On Tuesday 31st October 2006 a group of Politics students from Westcliff High School for Girls visited Westminster to find out more about the workings of the Houses of Parliament.
Following their tour around the Commons and Lords Chambers, David Amess MP conducted a question and answer session in the impressive St Mary’s Crypt under Westminster Hall. Here students were given the opportunity to question Mr Amess on a number of topics of the day, from the war in Iraq to the succession of Gordon Brown as Prime Minister.
The tour was rounded off by watching the Speaker’s parade as the House sat for the afternoon and a tour of the Westminster terrace where they had their pictures taken with the Southend West MP.
