MP SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED AT THEFT OF BELFAIRS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
David Amess MP today expressed his outrage at the theft of £1800 of Christmas Lights that were meant for the Belfairs Woodcutters precinct in Leigh on Sea.
The lights had been purchased by Gordon Stimpson of Belfairs Tyres and Exhausts after he personally volunteered to provide festive lights for the community at his own expense. The lights were being stored in an out-building on his work premise when thieves broke in over the weekend. David Amess MP was due to switch on the lights at the ceremony scheduled for Friday 15th December.
Speaking about the incident today David Amess MP said
‘This is truly a disgrace. Mr Stimpson volunteered to purchase and put up the Christmas lights in Woodcutters for the good of the community in Belfairs. I would urge anyone that has any information on this crime to come forward to the Police and I am appealing to those that stole the lights to return them to bring the festive spirit back to Belfairs this Christmas.
