Public Protest Against Bus Cuts

On Monday 17th December 2005 at 11:00am there will be a public protest outside Belfairs Post Office in Southend to demonstrate against cuts to the bus service that were made earlier this year.

This event has been organised in conjunction with Belfairs residents that have been seriously affected by the cessation of the no 29 bus route in particular. They are calling for a replacement service to be put in place urgently to re-instate the mobility and independence of the elderly, the disabled and all other residents in the area that relied on this form of transport.

There is already a local petition being circulated, available in Belfairs Post Office and David Amess MP will be present at the demonstration on Monday to receive the signatures. David is committed to finding a new sponsor for Southend’s axed bus routes and hopes that this event will show what public feeling there is on this matter.
