Local MP Joins Parador Properties And The Surrey Mirror To Grant £10,000 To Local Good Causes
Crispin Blunt MP today joined the Jack Hamilton, Managing Director of Parador Properties, on the Committee of the Surrey Mirror Charitable Fund, along with Martin Gow of Parador Properties and Alf d’Araujo, the Business Editor of the Surrey Mirror.
After careful consideration of the bids, Parador Properties, in conjunction with the Surrey Mirror, has given away £10 thousand to the following local charities:
7th Reigate Scouts £500 To pay for security for their hut in Timperley Gardens
Furnistore £1500 To help 10 families with essential furniture or 5 families with furniture and kitchen appliances
Horse Hills £560 To pay for two terms riding for disabled children
Welcare £500 To pay for summer outings for disadvantaged families
Reigate Parish Playgroup £1750 To pay for half the cost of an outdoors shelter
East Surrey Domestic Violence Forum £1,075 To pay for counselling for children affected by domestic violence
Merstham Football and Social Club £2,600 To pay for the start up and coaching of two junior girls football teams
South Park playing field and recreation ground £1,500 To pay for the coaching and kit for two junior football teams
After the committee’s deliberations Crispin Blunt said:
“I am delighted to be involved for the second year in the Surrey Mirror Charitable appeal supporting a wide range of local causes. When successful local businesses give back to the community not only do they raise their profile but they contribute helping local voluntary organisations improve the lives of local people and make our community that much stronger.
“On a national level we have seen over the last year the extraordinary reaction of the British people to the Tsunami, the dreadful earthquake in Pakistan and to the Live 8 campaign. I see no evidence of so-called ‘charity fatigue’ setting in. When this is combined with focussed and substantial investment from business we will see real improvements in the lot of those in the developing world.
“I believe that Parador Properties can not only claim to be one of the fastest growing companies but also one of the most generous in its charitable support. Not only have supported this Surrey Mirror appeal but they have also contributed to the Woodland Trust, planting as many trees as they use for their brochures. They have also helped to save the Joyce Banda School in Malawi and donated £30 thousand, raised at their Christmas party last December, to the ‘Make a Wish Foundation.”
